What is diaspora and homeland partnerships?
The Bayanihan Foundation encourages partnerships between Filipinos living in the diaspora with Filipinos living in the homeland. They have a tremendous potential to give to long-term development and sustainability when both sides work together.
It’s more than just money. It’s a long-term partnership between both sides for sustainable development. The foundation plans to offer youth leadership development; public education on important social issues affecting Filipinos; and advocacy and promotion of return migration.
What is diaspora?
Diaspora is the movement or migration of a group of people, such as those sharing a national identity, away from an ancestral homeland.
What are the new priorities of the foundation?
In June 2011, the foundation has shifted its priorities to include the following:
1) PROMOTE INTEGRATION and NEXTGEN youth leadership development
2) CONDUCT PUBLIC EDUCATION AND OUTREACH for the clean up of toxic wastes in former US military installations in Clark and Subic and the lack of recognition of over 50,000 Amerasians left behind in the Philippines
3) ADVOCATE for other social issues affecting Filipinos in the US and abroad through strategic partnerships and linkage agreements
