New York Times reports sweatshop labor conditions for foreign workers

The New York Times reported that foreign workers, mostly Filipino and Chinese workers were lured to training jobs in Japan but the workers were subjected to unpaid overtime, sweatshop conditions, physical and verbal attacks and horrible working conditions.

Filipino and many other foreign workers are faced with so much peril and risks seeking employment abroad for a better life for their families.  We should work on long-term solutions so these workers in the near future can have a choice – either to work in the Philippines or work abroad. Right now, there is no other choice but to leave.
